This is wonderful we all forget things as adults as a pen etc, and teens are growing they get really hungry and like is they may not of been that hungry at lunch etc.

My kids school is worse than a prison. Chewing gum 60 min after school detention. No pen or pencil etc is a C1 if you get two C1’s in a day that another after school detention same as looking out the window DETENTION

Give the kid a pen, keep them out of isolation for the day because some jobsworth is dishing out negative points 🙄 I had an pot on my desk of found pens, take one, keep it i dont care...most weeks I somehow ended up with more pens than I started with - kids would often just bring them to me like lost and found 😅

Chewing gum. I wait till a point in the lesson where it doesn’t matter to mention it. I then have a gum amnesty. If everyone chewing (you know it’s more than one!) pops their gum in the bin then no one gets a consequence for it including the original chewer. If I later then catch someone then they get a point for it. (More for the dishonesty than the gum!) this tends to stop the ‘but miss, this is so unfair as x is chewing!’
