If you're average at everything that doesn't mean you can do anything to the halfway point, you still won't understand aliens for example because the best "talking to aliens" we've ever done is sending a record into space and we're not even sure if we've talked to any other species with it. So you still wouldn't understand a word.

Average does not mean what OP thinks it means. If you had 100 people trying to cure cancer and all 100 fail to create a cure of any kind then the average is still NOT MAKING A CURE 😂
