I’M CONVINCED THEY DON’T MAKE GYM EQUIPMENT LIKE THEY USED TO. 💪😂 Call me old-fashioned, but I’ll take a 20-year-old piece of gym equipment over a brand-new machine any day of the week. And I’ve got a couple of reasons for that. FIRST, THE WAY THEY FEEL. Some of these older machines have absolutely phenomenal biomechanics. The resistance curves, the positioning, the way the movement feels under load… There’s a reason certain machines have developed almost cult-like followings among bodybuilders. Just because something is newer doesn’t automatically mean it’s better. SECOND, THEY’RE BUILT TO BE WORKED ON. A lot of older equipment is refreshingly simple. Bearings, bushings, cables, pulleys, bolts, and some really heavy pieces of steel. Something breaks? You can usually figure out what’s wrong, order a replacement part, and fix it yourself. You don’t need a proprietary electronic component, a service technician, or a degree in electrical engineering just to get a leg extension working again. 😂 And honestly, that’s a HUGE advantage when you’re running an independently owned gym. We’ve got plenty of newer equipment at Atlas, but some of my favorite pieces are older machines that we’ve picked up, refurbished, and given a second life. A little elbow grease, some replacement parts, and occasionally three unnecessary trips to Home Depot can turn an old machine into something that’ll serve our members for years. NEWER DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN BETTER. SOMETIMES BETTER JUST NEEDS A LITTLE TLC. And if that means I get to keep collecting old-school gym equipment and calling it a business investment, even better. 😂 What’s one old-school gym machine you think is better than anything being made today? 👇 #AtlasStrengthShop #OldSchoolGym #StrengthTraining
