We left the United States about a year ago however we just started our first full year of school in Spain(Andalusia Region) . And the communication between school and parents/teachers and parents has been difficult. Like very little communication before school started trying to find supply list and even what teacher for which kid was not easy and very late . Our state was Florida. We started August 10 and open house, meet the teacher and supply list all that went out mid July and was done early August before school. And then the first day they came home the packets which funny enough we hated the amount of paperwork. But the paperwork came with how to contact the teacher ,outline of their daily schedule, rules and regulations or the apps used by the teacher in the school. And we got none of it, but tomorrow’s day three so…

Los concertados son colegios de titularidad privada que una vez fueron privados pero que tienen un “concierto” con la administración que tiene parte de financiación pública y parte con aportaciones de las familias. El sistema se crear hace bastantes años para que fuera mayor la escolarización.

Do the American schools have American teachers? Or is it English like UK or all American like?

I’ve met several parents who basically told me they send their kids to concertados to avoid their kid having to mingle with “undesirable” immigrant population and/or poor kids. Kind of crazy

Also important to note that Catholicism / religion classes are taught in public school… it’s allowed to opt out but still, odd. Concertados are almost always more religious too

Do public schools lose funding if children go to a private or semi private school in Spain like they do in many states in America? And do those schools still have to adhere to the same standards as being taught at the public school? Do they have the same standard of teachers? Sorry all I can compare to is American private and charter where the schools and teachers can do literally whatever they want with public funding
