I think her Dad felt guilty about the way he treated his wife. he mentions several times that fleabag reminds him of her. then in the second season, he mentions that he didnt like those things in her mother and he just put up with it because he loved her. I think he deals with the same guilt fleabag feels about Boo.

I find the way Phoebe Waller Bridge chose to portray grief is so beautiful and complex. My favorite instance of this is the rubbers on the end of pencils scene. It makes Fleabag feel worse because she knows that if Boo found out what she did Boo would have forgiven her. People make mistakes. So often grief is shown as a month of pain and tears that slowly gets better, but fleabag starts grief looking like she got a facial a before her mother’s funeral.
