There are two clarifications 15 Extra deck is the standard unless you either: A) Don't have 15 cards you could theoretically summon B) You have a reason for playing less than 15 Yugioh is also a very fast game and like Yugi you job is to either create a puzzle for your opponent(if you go first what kind of interactions can you create) or find a way to solve your opponent's puzzle(if you go second how do you defeat their monsters). You need to keep an open mind on what a good card actually is, 25 years of power creep means unless you only play with friends a "bad" modern deck will beat a broken deck made up of 2013 cards if you play with strangers.

Honestly, you're off to a good start. The fundamentals you listed are correct, but don't let the amount of information in YuGiOh! overwhelm you. There is A LOT to learn, and even experienced players are constantly learning new interactions. A couple things I'd add: • Your Main Deck can be 40–60 cards, and your Extra Deck can have up to 15 cards. You don't have to fill the Extra Deck, but modern decks commonly use all 15 slots because having more options is valuable. • The “3 copies” rule means up to 3 copies of a card across your Main, Extra, and Side Deck combined, unless that card is affected by the current banlist. • Don't worry about memorizing every mechanic at once. Learn the basic rules, then pick a deck you actually enjoy and learn how that deck works. Understanding your cards and their interactions will teach you much faster than trying to memorize the entire game. And here's a big one: learn to read and pay attention. 😂 YuGiOh! has a reputation for being complicated, but a huge part of winning is simply understanding what the cards actually say and paying attention to what your opponent is doing. As a newer player, you can sometimes gain a surprisingly big advantage just by knowing your own cards, reading your opponent's cards carefully, and not playing on autopilot. You'll eventually run into players who are basically just following a memorized combo line without thinking about what you're doing. If you can recognize what their cards do, understand their choke points, and adapt instead of blindly following your own combo, you're already putting yourself in a much better position. And don't be afraid to stop and read cards. Even veteran players have to read unfamiliar cards and interactions. There are thousands of cards in this game. Most importantly, have fun with it. The learning curve is steep, but once things start clicking, YuGiOh! becomes MUCH more interesting.
