@drjulianprosia: Sometimes the best treatment starts with making it FUN. For children with amblyopia (“lazy eye”), covering the stronger eye encourages the brain to use the weaker eye, helping those visual connections develop and protecting their vision for the future. For moderate amblyopia, research has shown that just 2 hours of patching per day can be enough for many children. Atropine drops, which temporarily blur the stronger eye, can also be similarly effective and are a great alternative when patching just isn’t happening. But this mom absolutely nailed the most important part. By patching herself and her other daughter, she turned treatment into something her child could feel included in rather than afraid of. A little encouragement today can mean better vision for a lifetime. Did you ever have to patch or use atropine in your child? #optometrist #amblyopia #lazyeye #eyehealth #patching 🎥: @Sophie Shaw

I had a lazy eye as a kid but they never patched me just gave me glasses which I never wore- I think I still have one bc my left eye drifts a lot but it’s not as noticeable now as least to me😂

If you’re in your 30s, is it too late to fix this?

There is a new technology like VR; the machine does the patching but is not covered by insurance, and I think it is 40 per month and you need a doctor's prescription.

My niece had to do this for her lazy eye. The problem is, she’d get so tired after like 15 minutes with it on and she’d fall asleep. Thankfully it did get better even having it on for that short time every day along with her glasses

I did this with my daughter. Then the Dr put a burry film on her lens. You couldn’t tell it was on. It was so much easier. The taking off of the patch was no fun.

When their eye is turned like that do they have any vision at all? If not, do they gain it with correction with the patch?
