What was supposed to be a normal escort mission turned into one of the longest and toughest nights for Alpha Company. It started with one of our vehicles escorting Ecolog, responsible for food and supplies for UNISFA personnel. But when the escort had still not returned by 8pm, we knew something wasn’t right. A recovery team was sent after 9pm… Then one Kamaz got stuck. Another went to pull it out—and got stuck too. Then another. And another. By 1am, all four of Alpha Company’s Kamaz trucks were stuck in the mud, about 10–11km away from Company Base. And that was only the beginning. With the rain falling and darkness all around us, we had no choice but to spend the night by the lonely, muddy and dangerous road. No comfort. No proper place to rest. Just soldiers, rain, mud, and a long night ahead. Morning finally came, but the struggle wasn’t over. The next day, everyone showed up. The OC. The Platoon Commanders. The Medical Officer. The CSM. The Platoon Warrant Officers. And the soldiers. Everyone was involved. We walked roughly 10 kilometres through the difficult terrain to get to the site, and together, we worked to recover the vehicles and bring them back towards Company Base. It wasn’t easy. The mud tested our strength. The rain tested our patience. The distance tested our endurance. But what stood out the most was how everyone came together. Rank didn’t matter when there was work to be done. Everyone played a part. Everyone pushed. Everyone pulled. Everyone endured. That experience reminded me that sometimes, the real meaning of teamwork isn’t seen during the easy days. It is seen when the road is muddy, the night is long, the body is tired, and giving up seems like the easier option. But we didn’t give up. We stayed together. We worked together. And in the end… We made it through. A difficult night. A muddy road. Four stuck Kamaz trucks. Rain. Darkness. Exhaustion. But one Company. Alpha Company. 🇬🇭🕊️ Proud to have been part of this journey with the men of UNISFA GHANBATT 3. The road was difficult, but together, we found our way through.#southsudantiktokers🇸🇸 #unisfa #abyei #un @Alibaba
