I’m sorry that happened. 🥲 As weird as it feels to me, I mark everything that I want people to leave in my library — even things that I think are obvious. It does seem to help, and no one seems bothered by my little “leave at library” tags. I also use really inexpensive things as containers (small cardboard boxes, short salsa jars) and just make them look cute by painting or collaging with book pages. Still, it bothers me sometimes… so I take a break and just put books in for a while until I feel better. You can change the rules as you go along! Thanks for helping your community!

Definitely use something that makes it clear it shouldn’t be moved. Or even put a “rules list” or a label on the top shelf saying please share the goodies and don’t take them all.
