Down memory lane 🔵♥️ A letter from Najjera ✍🏾 Saturday, 1st August, 2026 The legendary original Afrigo Band members of Uganda's oldest band "Endongo Ssemadongo" that was started in 1975. From Left to right; Paul Serumaga, Jeff Sewava, Fred Luyombya, Charles Sekyanzi, Paddy Nsubuga, Moses Matovu aka Papa Moi (it's current lead singer till to-date) leaning against the car, Geoffrey Kizito and Anthony Kyeyune. Moses Matovu is now aged 76 years but still singing melodious and amazing songs. Paul Serumaga was a guiterlist and vocalist he composed "Oswadde Nnyoo" another classic ..he passed on in 1989 Jeff Sewava was saxophonist and a vocalist the song he sung I can ably remember was called "Betty". He left Afrigo towards 1978 or 1979 and relocated to Germany. Not much is known about him. Fred Luyombya was Bass guitarist he passed on in 1980s. Charles Sekyanzi was a vocalist, he passed on in March 2009. He sung one of my favourites called "Eneyisa yo", "Rose Guma", "Onemye" and many more. Paddy Nsubuga was a rythm guitarist. The only song I can remember is when he was rallying for support for his favourite soccer team Express FC it usually plays on Radio One's FM 90.0 Anthony Kyeyune was a technician. He lator moved on to become a business man in town. Papa Moi (Moses Matovu ) one of the longest band member who took steward ship of the band and took over from Jeff Sewava leaving Uganda to Germany. Papa Moi is the one who crafted the name Afrigo Band, Moses Matovu was one of the people who left Cranes Band to form Afrigo Band. "Omwana we nsenene ssewanyana, Rashid Musoke Boona Batusse , Omuziki Guwooma Sam Ntwala Naawe , Sam tondeka Ssebo" That's my favourite line in one of Papa Moi's hit single Abaana Ba'Afrigo Batuuse album.
