SEND to someone you’d take on a Virginia roadtrip with you! It kills me how many people live in Virginia and have NO idea places like these exist right in their own state. 😭🏔️ I grew up in Southwest Virginia, and I swear this part of the country doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how beautiful it is. If you haven’t explored these places yet, add them to your Virginia bucket list! 🥾 McAfee Knob: One of the most iconic overlooks on the Appalachian Trail, and absolutely worth the hike. 🐴 Grayson Highlands State Park: Wild ponies, open mountain balds, and views that honestly don’t even look like Virginia. 💦 Devil’s Bathtub: That ridiculously blue swimming hole tucked away in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. Just be prepared for creek crossings! 🪨 The Great Channels: A maze of massive sandstone crevices that feels like something you’d find out West. One of my favorite hikes close to home! 🌲 Hungry Mother State Park: A beautiful mountain lake surrounded by forest, with hiking trails and some of the prettiest scenery in the area. 💧 Gentry Falls: A gorgeous waterfall hike with multiple creek crossings that makes you feel like you’ve found a little hidden corner of Virginia. 🏔️ Sand Caves: A massive sandstone cave tucked into Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. The hike to get there is part of the adventure! 🌄 White Rocks: An incredible overlook in the Cumberland Gap area with sweeping mountain views. And the crazy part? This is just a tiny fraction of what Virginia has to offer. I’ve traveled all over the world, but there’s something pretty special about the mountains I grew up around. Follow for more bucket list hikes and adventures hiding right here in the Southeast! 🥾 #VirginiaHikes #SouthwestVirginia #VirginiaTravel
