This reading always gets me. I truly believe that it is one of the hardest, if not the hardest command to follow. I think it’s not just that we keep remembering, but that we our selves will also reoffend. He’s asking us to forgive them, just like he continues to forgive us.

One reason is 70x7 is 490. That’s straight out of Daniel chapter 9:24 but read the whole section around it to the end of Daniel. Depending on how you count and what dates you use, the timeline leads exactly to Christ’s crucifixion in 30-33AD or to the 2nd temple’s destruction in 70 AD
