@rodoskouianmd: When you spend your career telling people to listen to their bodies… while occasionally negotiating with your own. 😂 Healthcare workers know this feeling a little too well. Maybe we should start taking our own advice. 😭 #DoctorLife #HealthcareWorkers #MedicalHumor #DoctorLife #rodoskouian

Facts.. had a glucose level of 40 while working the floor and asked my manager could she cover me for 10 minutes while I drink some juice.. next day while I was not at work she was on the floor sipping OJ saying “omg, my sugars low” and laughing.. mind you I checked my glucose in front of her so she saw I was at 40.. crazy insensitive

Nope, I’m calling in. I don’t care if I’ve already been warned. How can I give the best care to my patients if I don’t feel good myself?

I passed out in our staff lounge bathroom, woke up alone, asked if I was good to finish my shift.

When I tested positive for Covid last year, I was told to wear a regular mask and not tell my patient. We were too shortstaffed. I refused to care for a one week old newborn and was threatened with a write up because of it.

Sadly this is what is expected. I want my surgeon to be feeling their best before any of my procedures. our Healthcare system must change. physicians and medical team are human that contract illnesses also.

being in healthcare while chronically ill is a battle that is so disappointing. I am also a patient but not treated as a human with actual health issues.

Had deaths on each and every shift for a week and I kept getting admissions and no one debriefed with me. I literally started to dissociate, shake, didn’t eat, etc. I had to call in for a few days and no one checked in with me. Not sure how much longer I can do this

Doctors suffer to take care of others, yet no one takes us seriously whenever we complain about our own health… It’s so sad 😞

I worked in an ER. One of PA’s noticed I was bleeding. He was furious when I told him that I didn’t have PTO and had run out of fmla for another health issue so I had to work through a ruptured cyst. He said not anymore you don’t. Got me comfy, the best nurses and notified management I was off the floor. Made me stay that entire shift in that room and wrote a note that I could not work under any circumstances for two weeks. He gave me his schedule and phone number and to ask for him personally if I had any issues. He was head of the PA’s. He told me later that his daughter had PCOS and couldn’t have kids and he knew the pain was horrific. He said if I could help one person in that situation, my daughter would be proud.

take the day off, call in sick, do what you need to cause at the end of the day we are replaceable and they don't care about us! short staffing sucks but we've been there covering those short staffed days. maybe the industry should focus less on financial gain and more about health! no wondering nurses and care aides leave!

I was told to go into work when I had a fever of 105, ear infection that was also making me have sepsis, oh and last time I had Covid it almost killed me but since I called out for a couple days I got fired for it. They also tried firing me cause I had a high risk pregnancy and had 2 cardiac episodes that the code team took me to the ER for. The hospital wanted to fire me for that.

I am a medical assistant with sickle cell. I was having a hemolytic crisis and I called off because I wasn’t feeling well. To the point where I am about to faint of exhaustion and fatigue and dizziness. I get half a point taken after that… like maam I was having a medical emergency. If I kept working it could have progressed to an even bigger crisis later on and then I’ll be out for more… which 1) affect more of my patients and 2) I’ll be out longer
