Looking back, I realize I was trying to judge my potential based on a version of myself who had never really been given the chance to learn how to be a student. At 16, medicine felt impossible. Working felt useful. So I walked away from school. Turns out, feeling behind and being incapable are two very different things. If someone came to mind while reading this, send it to them. I’m surprised bc you come across as really intelligent and like someone who seems like they always did really well. I really appreciate your honesty and vulnerability because you are showing people you don’t need to be a perfect person to become a plastic surgeon. Although I am not interested in medicine or surgery—I’m sure there are plenty of people who are but think they are not “academic” enough.
