Chale…,.it’s 2026, and we still think the only way to deal with flooding in Accra is demolition? Ah😩 Where is the advancement? Where is the innovation? Countries like China and Dubai are changing the narrative, finding innovative ways to build with water and even on water, while here we are still responding to flooding by demolishing buildings along the coastline. Can we not think beyond demolition? Can we not invest in proper drainage systems, flood control infrastructure, water management, urban planning and innovative building solutions? It’s 2026. We should be asking ourselves how to adapt and build smarter, not simply destroy what has already been built. This is honestly sad. And for the very first time, I’m genuinely ashamed of where we are as Africans. We deserve better. Our cities deserve better. And our approach to development must evolve.
