Although the stage-play was definitely a catalyst that incited a further look into this event, the edit itself is derived purely from book sources. Full reasoning + mapping breakdown of this event drops on YouTube within the week (tonight if I can get it out). Not elaborating further in the comments, that's what the video is for. Ask any ASOIAF "fan" going on about "canon" how they know Jon Snow comes back in TWOW (if we ever get it), or how they know his real parents are Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, and usually there's no answer, since neither is ever stated outright anywhere in the text. Ned and Benjen Stark aren't even shown outright stating it despite ample opportunity toi do so. Both concepts will almost certainly be solidified in future releases, but as of now they're built on inference, not confirmation. At some point, some of you have to admit you're not actually concerned with canon: you dislike how the stage-play handled these events and are using "it's not canon," to dismiss it, even though its writing and production have been overseen by GRRM himself for at least the past 5 years.
