ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ "ਵਾਹ ਗੁਰੂ", ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ—ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਹਨ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ "Teacher is great". ਜੇਕਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਬੱਚਾ ਕਲਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ, ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਹੀ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਰਹੇ—"ਮਾਸਟਰ ਜੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੋ, ਮੈਡਮ ਜੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੋ"—ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸਫ਼ਲ ਰਹੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਉਲਟ, ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਦੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਬਕ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਕੇ, ਅਪਣਾ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾਗੂ (Apply) ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਸਫ਼ਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਸਿੱਖੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰੀਏ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮਿੱਠ-ਬੋਲੜਾ, ਨਿਰਭਉ, ਨਿਰਵੈਰ, ਦਇਆਧਾਰੀ, ਕਿਰਪਾਲੂ, ਖਿਮਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਨਿਰਮਲ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਔਗੁਣਾਂ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਕਾਮ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ, ਲੋਭ, ਮੋਹ, ਹੰਕਾਰ, ਝੂਠ, ਚੁਗਲੀ, ਨਿੰਦਿਆ, ਦਵੈਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਈਰਖਾ—ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ, ਸ਼ੁਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲਈਏ, ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕਮਿਕਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹੋ ਹੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਧੀਆ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ।
