literally happened to me. I live in Utah, and went to Colorado. I got called by my boss as im walking into the cave im about to explore IN COLORADO. and he tells me my vacation was denied (maybe in his head but never on my request) and where am I, Im late for work yadda yadda yadda. I said well im here in colorado and wont be back until the day i put on said request... so yeah hope you figure it out hahah and my phone was on DND the rest of the weekend. Not my fault I requested the trip MONTHS prior and he just barely looked at it lol

I remember my last job I wasn’t allowed to take days off if someone already asked to have those days off. It seemed like every time I tried someone just all of a sudden needed that day. I was 8 months pregnant and worked everyday somedays I worked 12 hrs at a time and my boss could have cared less. I went into L&D one night due to contractions and whatnot and didn’t get home till 5 am. I told my boss I couldn’t come in and she denied my request and stated someone else has strep and I needed to come in to take their spot. I hadn’t slept at all and went in the next day. Requested my maternity leave and the day I was supposed to go back I put my 2 weeks notice in and used the rest of my pto for the 2 weeks since I hadn’t been able to use them for any other days. All the employees were pissed at me bc now they couldn’t take a day off or do the things they wanted. 😭😭

My boss called me as I was literally getting off the plane 1500 miles away. I had put in the request properly about 4 months before, and told my boss more than once in the 2 months leading up to it. He called me and asked “you’re late, when are you going to be here?” I told him “I’ll be there in 15 minutes” then blocked him until I got back. He chewed me out my first day back in which I promptly gave him my two week notice.

I don't put in requests for days off. I let my employer know what days I'm not going to be in. I learned to say "I won't be here these days" vs. "Can I have these days off?". I've never gotten in trouble and that's how I've been doing it my whole adult life. 🤷♀️
