Grandma knew she was wrong because she kept it a secret. Spouse was wrong to give permission AND keep it a secret. Divorce the spouse. This type of thing will happen again.

Grandma did; if she talked to mom about it and mom said no then she shouldn’t have gone to dad. She’s no longer a safe adult if she’s hiding things from a parent

The husband. Grandma had permission from a parent. Dad should have had the balls to tell his wife upfront that he had no issue with it and the two of them should have come to some sort of agreement. One that looped in the child’s doctor.

Unpopular opinion, all three of them. Mom needs to let go of stigmas and talk to the pediatrician about it. Dad has every right to make decisions for their child as the Mom BUT it's tricky to go against even when it's beneficial. Grandma needs to know she cannot make those decisions for their grandkids; she's Grandma not mom.

Any medication given to children warrants consent from mom or dad. If mom already said no, grandma crossed a line. If dad said yes, but grandma asked dad because mom said no, grandma crossed a line. If dad and mom previously agreed not to give melatonin and dad said yes anyway, dad crossed a line. If mom and dad never discussed it, dad is in the clear.

Grandma should have drawn the line and not had overnights if the girl was too much. Dad should have attended a well check with mom and girl and asked about melatonin. They both suck. But at least they didn’t use Benadryl to make the kid sleep.
