@rubymcco: Not “just sports.” Not just our bodies. We are strong. We are capable. We are athletes. Women have spent decades fighting to be taken seriously as athletes. To have our strength, performance, and accomplishments recognized instead of being reduced to our bodies. For far too long, women have been told where we belong and what we are capable of. Every woman who steps outside, pursues a hard goal, or takes up space in places we were historically excluded from is part of changing that. This is why I give a shit about sharing my running journey in the first place. I want women to feel confident taking up space in the outdoors. We belong on the trails. We are capable of incredible things. Strength and femininity can coexist. I want to make trail running feel approachable, not intimidating. I want to show realistic training and what it looks like to pursue big goals while still living a full life. Running gave me my freedom back. You deserve to find your version of that freedom too. There’s a difference between embracing your body and reducing athletic imagery to sex appeal. We are athletes. Not just bodies.
Are you telling women what to do with their bodies?!
