@roxannakemppainen: Pat was super sweet today, very loving and chill. I didn't sense any agitation or anxiety, but I had to stay away from the main common area. one of the residents was very upset as she often is, pacing and flipping furniture and yelling out and swearing, crying etc...it's definitely triggering and stirs up so many awful memories of similar events with Pat and how helpless we can feel as caregivers. Meds can help but not every family is on board with giving meds, which is just a lack of understanding how they can help. The stage that comes with those behaviors was a long and trying one...its very heartbreaking especially for an empathetic person who has also gone through it. We took our visit to the piano room and sat by the sun! The things I've seen and have gone through with this disease will never leave me. They have changed me...in ways too many to count...my DNA is different...surviving this journey as a caregiver is a bittersweet triumph that I will use for good. If I can't make something good come from this Pat suffered in waste and shame on me then. I am his voice and I will share our journey till my last breath.
