I'm so so grateful i grew up in the 80's and 90's! I did all the fun stuff. played outside with the neighbors all day, played night time games, went trick or treating with all my friends without parents because our neighborhood was super safe. I spent 90% of my childhood outside having fun and kids these days don't get to experience that and it makes me sad

At 10 I was doing my own laundry, babysitting my two little brothers and cooking for them. On sundays I would walk 3 blocks across a busy intersection to buy donuts. Also I remember my mom leaving all three of us in the car to run into the grocery store.

I was just called a bad mommy yesterday because i don't let my kid play outside alone , and I was trying to explain to them that you can't do you find that anymore or how I don't leave him at home by himself , because I could go to jail

Parents leaving their children home alone. My mom was a stay-at-home Mom. She would regularly leave me at home (when I was home sick) to run errands. She would say, “Don’t answer the door, don’t answer the phone, don’t use the stove.” That was it. I’d be 6 years old, watching Price is Right with a box of cherry Ludens cough drops, ginger ale, alone for hours.

I still agree with tummy sleeping for babies. They end up with normal shaped heads. Now parents sleep them on their backs where they could choke and then put helmets on their heads to make their heads a normal shape. Weird…………. They also crawl at a normal time.

In 1994 or so, I think I was 11 or 12. I flew 3 hours from Toronto Ontario to Halifax Nova Scotia by myself. My grandpa picked me up and drove 90 minutes to his house. All before cell phones and free long distance calls. My parents didn’t hear from me for 6 hours or so until it was 99 cents a minute to call home.
