The flex isn’t earning $100k. The flex is what you earn per hour of your life. If it takes 70–80 hours a week to earn that salary, suddenly it’s nowhere near as impressive. Money matters, but so does having an actual life outside work.

doesn't the pay end up being kinda mid when you calculate it per hour, like 110000 a year with 80 hour work weeks is only 26.44 an hour, like it's not the worst but compared to other highish level white collar jobs it's not very good

never understood why people would do that. the money sounds good until you realize you’re working for 2 full time jobs basically. im in software, most weeks are 40 hours and if it’s REALLY slammed then maybe 45-50. if I wanted to be anywhere near 80 hours I’d just work another job at the same time and at least get ACTUAL double salary
