BREAKING: ILE-IFE NURTW EXECUTIVES SPEAK ON AJAGUGBADE ‘EMIR’ KILLING, DEMAND FULL INVESTIGATION The leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ile-Ife, has condemned the killing of Ajagugbade, popularly known as “Emir,” and called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident. According to the union, Emir and members of his entourage were allegedly attacked by Wakil Nurudeen Alowonle, the immediate past NURTW Chairman in Osun State, alongside other alleged accomplices. Those allegedly mentioned in connection with the incident include Olayemi Ojo, popularly known as Sibi, as well as individuals identified as Sultan, Imole and Elesin, among others. The union alleged that about ten other persons, some reportedly masked and armed with sophisticated weapons, were involved. The incident reportedly caused serious damage at Mayfair Garage, Ile-Ife, with several NURTW members sustaining injuries. Some of the injured were reportedly receiving treatment at Seventh-day Adventist Hospital and the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC). The NURTW executives said the matter has been reported to the Nigeria Police Force, Ife Area Command, Moore, Ile-Ife, and urged security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the law. The union also appealed for calm, urging residents and transport workers to remain peaceful and law-abiding as security agencies work to establish what happened.
