You know what's been happening to me? I will like a video and follow a tattoo artist local to me because their work is nice and yes, I'd like to get more tattoos but I just can't afford it this month... but after I follow them, they DM me wanting to know when I'm available to book an appointment. I was honest with one of them and said I wouldn't have the money for one for a while but they kept bugging me until I had to block them.

my biggest problem is....ego....im a artist and I just want to vibe with another artist. and ill tell them that and it a change in attitude. well ur not as good as me...I never said that...I just wanted to vibe with another artist.

THANK YOU FOR CALLING THIS WHAT IT IS - a TRADE & a CRAFT. **NOT** an industry. We are humans not machines in a factory. Because people forced “industry” upon us we now are and it’s GROSS. I started tattooing in 1990 & have watched the craft I have LOVED almost my entire life be usurped and drained of its essence. It’s sad. So thank you for this - I added with you 100%. 💜

I knew my tattoo artist passed the vibe check when I posted an edited photo of my tattoo. I am really pale and edited the photo to take out the redness and remove some moles around it because I just wanted to show the tattoo. I tagged her in the photo and she likes it. But when she posted the photo she used the unedited photo. She could have just reposted my more visually clean version, but instead showed her unfiltered work. I immediately felt comfortable recommending her to others.

Im like super confused about the aftercare bc I looked it up on tiktok and every single video is just some tattoo artists or person with tattoos promoting a random product thats going to make ur tattoo "magically heal amazing" instead of giving actual tips

How do you know if the tattoo is AI enhanced? For someone like me who doesn’t have a ton of tattoos, I have a hard time knowing what’s been enhanced and what is just pure talent. Can you give some things to look for or feedback on how to identify enhanced tattoos?

I would add outrageously high prices to this list. It's definitely not all artists but I've seen some INSANE prices out there. Some artists have gone a little crazy

How do you feel about numbing cream? I would have so many more but I need the numbing cream & I hate that there’s this stigma that if you need it, you shouldn’t get a tattoo.

I think my biggest was pricing transparency. I've talked to a an artist about a back piece, sent references, told him what I generally wanted and he said, just lmk when you wanna book. When I responded with that I'd need an idea of pricing for the day rate that the artist said he'd do, I got a thumbs up emoji and haven't heard back

Omg I got this new $800 machine for its adjustable stroke and it broke week 3 into me using it. When I tell you I treated that thing like my son, I CARED for that thing. Then when I reached out to the company for a refund they tried to offer me store credit. Never buying a brand new product again. Sometimes the old is better than the new lol

one thing I cant stand is getting scammed for a deposit. I had quick design discussion with a called famous tattoer. he told me if I want to lock in the appointment for the design we discussed I would have to put up a 500 deposit first. I give the deposit without thought. then i get a call from his shop a few months later saying he doesnt want to do the design anymore. now he wants to have creative freedom to tattoo or do whatever he wants. I was like wtf? that wasnt what he said when we discussed the tattoo otherwise i would have never put a deposit down. then the shop also say no refunds. no design no appointment locked in. I wonder how many of this shop scams the run regularly

honestly can we just say the use of AI in general for ANYTHING. we are literally artists and it's absolutely insane to me that anyone would be using it to help them design or even for flyers. laziness.

Curious on your opinion, since you’ve been tattooing for many years. I saw a fineline artist post a video talking about her pricing and she said her MINIMUM tattoo is $300, she has only been tattooing a year and a half. In my opinion that is still fairly “new” in the industry, do you think the amount of experience an artist has should play a part in determining their prices? lol I tried to advise her of this and she deleted my comments so makes me think she only cares about taking people’s money, but I was just curious what other tattoo artists think about this topic!
