As a 23 year old former cry it out baby, I have no recollection until mum told me in a chat and my mum is my bestest friend. The baby will be FINE. Ignore the gentle parenters and helicopter mums.

at the end of the day your teaching her going to sleep is safe and she will be fine. 9 year old sleeping with their parents because theyre so anxious isnt right. your doing the hardwork now.

This breaks my heart in a way I can’t even put into words. A mother is letting her baby cry for hours and hours just because she believes the baby needs to learn how to sleep. That baby isn’t “learning” anything — it’s terrified. And when it finally becomes quiet, it’s not because it has learned to self-soothe. It’s because it has shut down and gone into a state of freeze. I genuinely cannot understand how anyone can hear their own baby crying like that and simply leave them there. Babies cry because they need us. They need comfort, safety and someone to show them that they are not alone. It makes me incredibly sad and angry that methods like this are still being used today. A helpless baby deserves so much more than being left alone with its fear. In my eyes, someone who can knowingly put their child through this should not be allowed to have custody of that child.😢

your issue is not doing this sooner. once my baby was 6 months and in her own room we did this. for a couple weeks she cried, the crying gradually got less and less each night until now i say goodnight, she smiles and goes straight to sleep. as hard as it is, put her down and just go downstairs, don’t go back in at all and they will get used to it
