He and Mainoo had been United’s best combination. Tielemans had made more line-breaking passes than anyone in the first half, Kobbie was getting on the ball, and now City had one less player. I remember sitting there thinking, ‘Good. Keep those two on the ball, move City around and eventually they’ll leave something open.’ Then I saw Tielemans number go up. I genuinely thought he’d picked up an injury. [laughs] Then Sesko came on and I realised, no, this was tactical. I understand what Michael was thinking.
