(1) wait omg this makes me emotional I was JUST thinking about my editor friends that I am not active with much anymore, sorry i’m going to yap since this is a deep topic for me 😭 I think interacting both with various editors and your fandoms are really important, because yes editors by themselves can be easy to find, but fandoms hold a LOT of community that can start really good connections! I do mean in the way of interacting with creators/posts continually, but I also especially mean in the sense of discussion! Big *or even in lucky cases* niche fandoms always have chat servers — whether it’s official or unofficial/fan; but I would say fan servers are more easier to gain friends. I am not sure if any other platform can do chatting servers but in my personal case I use discord as its the most popular and reliable for fan servers. I definitely would not recommend just searching for any fandom server you can find and immediately jumping into chatting without knowing of the servers nature but I would consider it a second step after interacting on social media posts/creators, since a lot of editors are in discord servers and you can also find people on tiktok that advertise their own or other people’s fan servers! Which can even be a server link in their bio. That can give you an advantage for building even just a moot connection with the creator or a member of the server before joining so you have more positive interactions :) I personally did not building any sort of connection with the members of discord server I am in and just jumped into the server, but I moved myself in to chatting pretty slowly as I was also shy — even just observing the chat for a while and just commenting on non-discussion posts (like complimenting someone’s *edit* 🫣) fandom servers always have a massive range of channels that range from general to different topics — which includes editing channels where members will post their edits in there. I wouldn’t expect a huge reaction immediately especially if you’re new but if you continually chat and post; members are going to start recognising you! —
