I lived right near a skydiving place for 15 years. Every few years someone would die. Like, they would fall in a neighbor’s backyard DEAD. The place would change its name and reopen.

Fun fact: some people can’t breathe in high wind. I am one of those people. Apparently you’re supposed to turn your head to the side if you can’t breathe, but they didn’t tell me that so I was suffocating the full time we were in freefall (75 seconds). Thought I was gonna die and all I could think of was “what an embarrassing way to go, suffocating on wind!” After he pulled the parachute I puked thousands of feet in the air lol.

I tell everyone…don’t do it, it was a mistake, it was the worst mistake I’ve ever made, it’s not fun, I thought I was going to die, it hurts, hard no, zero stars, people who like it should be monitored by a federal agency. It’s an entire speech every time I tell my story.

It felt like I was floating. I loved it, but would not risk it again. The skydiver who recorded my dive died on a solo dive months later.

The plane I was on literally had duct tape over holes in the body of the plane AND the pilot was also wearing a parachute… just in case.

I think where you go is very important. I had a full on class session before my jump. I’ve literally never felt so alive in my life and if money wasn’t an issue I’d learn to dive solo.

I’m going to throw out white water rafting along with skydiving. I got trapped under the raft and almost died. No thank you to any of that crap anymore

Had a neighbor who was a skydiver. Beautiful 6.3 sandy hair to his shoulders in a wheelchair. He got tangled…… uuummm yeah. Cool dude

my dad, a career naval officer, always told me you'd have to be crazy or stupid to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft and that's the only advice he ever gave me that I followed.

Might I add 1) how u have to learn how to breath as if ur sticking ur head out a car window driving 150 miles an hour. 2) The chest strap that starts out underneath your boobs ends up ripping your boobs off to the point that they're up at your neck. And 3) when the parachute opens and the weight of all of that down on the straps in your groin area is the worst pain I've ever felt. I was in so much pain the entire time that I couldn't even enjoy it.
