@motor.city.memori: For thirty years, one of Detroit's grandest buildings stood as a hollow shell, broken glass and pigeons where passengers once rushed to catch a train. 🌆 Michigan Central Station opened in 1913 in Corktown, one of the tallest and most beautiful train stations in the world at the time. Passenger service ended in 1988, and for the next three decades the building sat vacant, stripped and vandalized, becoming a symbol of Detroit's decline that showed up in photo essays and postcards of urban ruin around the world. In 2018, Ford Motor Company bought the station and committed to a six year, nearly billion dollar restoration. It reopened in June 2024, not as a train station but as the anchor of a thirty acre technology and innovation campus, brought back to what many are calling its most pristine state ever. 🚂 Did you ever see Michigan Central Station in its abandoned years, or do you only know it reborn? #BeforeAndAfter #MichiganCentralStation #DetroitHistory #MotorCityMemories #Corktown

I actually explored that when it was abandoned and climbed to the highest point on its roof. The most memorable part was stumbling on a very neatly set bedroom for what i can only assume was for a homeless person who took pride in their living situation, i mean bru, better than most homes ive seen, anyways, i fell into some sort of hole on the way out in the dark thingy building on the side while going back to the car

In the late 90s while it was abandoned we would go to the roof during the Detroit fireworks. Those were some of the best fireworks I've ever seen. Great memories.

I spent many years in proximity to this building. Watched it grow old. Watched as it deteriorated. Watched as it was being reborn. It now a beautiful building once again! Thank you Ford Motor Company.
