@jrmajewski_: Germany’s Russian-gas dependence was a vulnerability that took physical work to unwind. Russia supplied 52% of German gas imports in 2021 — a share of gas imports, not all German energy. Germany found replacement supplies, reduced consumption and filled storage. Trump did not cause the crisis, and he was not the only person who saw the danger. His public warning identified a dependence German leaders later had to confront urgently.
