@ttorisstory: Sorry but… what the fk was that? As a woman who has dedicated majority of my life to sport, this really rubbed me the wrong way. Women have spent decades fighting for our place in sport. To prove we’re capable. To lead. To be respected for our performance, strength and achievements and to fight against the idea that our bodies need to LOOK a certain way to have value. We shouldn’t have to be sexualised to be seen. Female or male, an athlete deserves to be recognised for what they can DO. Because our bodies are honestly the least interesting thing about us. It’s fucking cool to be strong. To be fast. Flexible. Powerful. Sweaty. To have muscles and thighs that actually DO something. And when 64% of girls have stopped playing sport by 16, while 68% worry about being judged or watched by others, conversations like this matter. Instead of teaching the next generation of girls how their bodies should LOOK, how about we teach them what their bodies can DO? Women have worked way too fucking hard to earn respect in sport for us to keep reducing their value back down to their bodies. #womeninsport #femalesport #strength
