I love the money from middle school matches where I’m from but I hate the concept of U14 soccer as a solo referee. There’s no feasible way to call offside offenses consistently.

$60 for a U12 AR is kinda on the high side compared to how much they pay here in Indiana. Question though: why the same pay for all the positions?

You guys earn good. In the Netherlands we get €27 per game at low level. But sometimes you have to drive 1 hour and be 1 hour earlier etc etc

Question for ya! I coach a u10 boys team, we have a parent that shows up late to games, after the boys are checked in by the refs. Is there a rule that prevents that kiddo from playing if he misses check in?

When I started referring (in France), I didn’t even know we were getting an allowance… when you’re 16, that’s helping to pay for your shirts, shorts, shoes etc…

that is wild that you drive an hour to your games. I know California is different when it comes to commuting time. I am so lucky I live within 10-15 minutes of 3 soccer complexes dependingon traffic. kudos to you for making that drive.

That's way higher than what I make in Virginia. Do you find that the higher game fees make up for the cost of traveling from ATL to LA (flights/hotels/rental cars/gas/food)?

I paid my way through college reffing year round. My main sport was basketball, but I also did football, soccer, and baseball. It is great money for a college student and a side hustle

Remember you are a professional referee which means you are performing a job and rightfully getting paid for it. Here on LI we get paid based on league and length of games U12 is 2 x 30 min for $65 in one league or 2 x 35 min for $80 in a different league and $100 for ECNL center or $60 for AR

I have been referring matches with my AYSo advanced certification for the last 18 years. Have been thinking of crossing over my cert for many years now but haven’t done it, even had the cross cert site opened up today but didn’t complete it. I usually only sign up for u16 or higher, sometimes u14, but nothing lower. Only put in about 6 or so matches a season since my youngest still plays club in EA, u19 this year so last year before he graduates
