@danjreilly: 🚨 A 33-MONTH CITIZENSHIP WAIT COULD DELAY SOME MOVES TO CANADA ⠀ What does a citizenship backlog have to do with real estate? ⠀ Proof delays can affect when some families make firm plans to move, rent, or buy a home in Canada. ⠀ The numbers: ⠀ 📈 Searches for “Canada citizenship by descent backlog” rose 600% in Canada over the past day, according to Google Trends. ⠀ 📌 More than 136,000 citizenship certificate applications were waiting for a decision, CBC News reported on Sept. 10, citing IRCC. ⠀ 📌 A new application had an estimated wait of 33 months. ⠀ 📌 The queue was 11% larger than it had been one month earlier. ⠀ 📌 Bill C-3 changed the first-generation limit on citizenship by descent on Dec. 15, 2025. ⠀ This is not 136,000 new home buyers. Many applicants may never move to Canada. But families that do plan to move could delay renting or buying until their documents arrive. ⠀ That makes this a relocation and housing-timing story, not proof of a housing boom. ⠀ Sources: CBC News, Google Trends and IRCC (Sept. 10 to 13, 2026). ⠀ Planning a move to B.C.? Dan J Reilly :
A 33-month estimate is not a guaranteed wait. Could this delay change when your family moves? If B.C. is the plan, comment RISK for my buyer checklist.
