A teenager convicted of killing a man in a “senseless act of violence” was captured smiling on a camera as he purchased the murder weapon. Sulaiman Tajzai, 18, admitted murdering Farmanullah Sherzad, 26, and possession of a bladed article at the Old Bailey on Friday. CCTV shows Tajzai buying a knife from a corner shop in Leeds at 12:17pm before catching a train to London to wait outside his victim’s Westminster address. Tajzai had travelled to London in the weeks before the attack to scope out Mr Sherzad’s home address and workplace. When Mr Sherzad arrived home from work around 10:15pm on 27 March, Tajzai chased him onto Abbey Orchard Street and fatally stabbed him. A member of the public found Mr Sherzad unconscious and called police, but he died 20 minutes later. Police arrested Tajzai at his cousin’s house in Leeds on 29 March and seized multiple items belonging to him including a pair of blood-stained trainers. The alleged animosity against Mr Sherzad was said to have dated back to the autumn of 2025 and involved Tajzai’s cousin’s wife and Mr Sherzad. #5news #crime #leeds
