For me developing Multiple Sclerosis whilst working in the arts was so eye opening, because none of the super "woke" artsy people were as "woke" as they were pretending to be when it came to disability lol I couldn't believe I was getting this kind of attitude in those spaces, especially because I was very rigorous in my allyship as a pre-disabled person, guys I thought we were all about it what gives? 😭

Not exactly the same but it reminds me of a story I once heard of a person with a really nice car who suddenly lost their job and eventually had to go to the food pantry but still had the nice car. People kept telling them in really pained tones that it might be time to sell the car and get something a little more "appropriate." Like, I beg your pardon? Sell my working car that has many years left in it before being expensive repairs and buy a junker instead just because it would look more appropriate? Like what??
