A truly evolved person can hold empathy for their parents even if they hold disappointments about how they were raised.

It didn’t mess me up. It made me aware. That with a personality disorder + multiple disorders mentally, anatomically, and physiologically my parents had less self awareness, self control, and compassion. They had the opportunity to be more successful as parents, and yet they made the choices they did. Where I can understand the capacity limitations, and where I can empathize with where they were in life, I can’t understand the cruelty and they don’t get an excuse for it.

My kids are 28 and 34 now but they were watching a video of me while I was nine years old on a swing in my daughter looked at my son. Can you believe that little girl turned into a bitch? I fell off the sofa, laughing. 🤣🤣🤣

I clearly remember my moms 40th birthday - and now I’m 45 and think wow I was grateful yet ungrateful for all of it

I often go back to my childhood memories so I can see how my mom handled us children. I miss her so much. 🥹

My parents who had all three of us by 19 were the light of our world. Truly just kids who loved us unconditionally and fiercely. I just had my first at 35 and I hope I hold a light to my childhood.

That was only a few years ago for me, I feel like I had a very personal shift in my relationship with them; like I started seeing them differently and interacting with them differently. In a good way, just different; more “adult to adult” I think - still kind of weird to think about though…
