Hi! I found this video really interesting and id like to counter it. Id argue that “removing emotions” is inevitable. Lets say, motivation. We all need some sort of zeal to do something whether you are forced to or are willing to, but lets specifically say you are willing to. Motivation is primarily driven by the neurotransmitter dopamine (Cleveland clinic, Dopamine) and you have acknowledged that we shouldnt become slaves to our chemicals in our head—especially emphasizing on dopamine rewarding things (scrolling, and food for taste)—but that would also include motivation, happiness, pride (the healthy one), and other emotions needed to achieve a goal (which is what you are trying to do and trying to get others to accomplish in this video). You yourself are probably being motivated by dopamine to even make this video and spread it which is quite contradictory to your point of “getting rid of subjective things (aka emotions)”. We will ALL be slaves to our emotions whether you like it or not because thats how we function. Second point is that this thing—this worldview—is subjective itself. All worldviews are subjective EVEN IF BACKED BY OBJECTIVITY. Although yes you are correct on the whole neurotransmitter thing, id like to address one thing: your point that being objective will bring us immorality—WHICH IS SUBJECTIVE! We do not literally know if us humans growing from our emotions will cause immorality because theres no backed proof for it. Your belief on that is by your faith which could be compared to a religious viewpoint on the afterlife. Now, ill stop being cynical and bring up how bad this would be for us if we tried to get rid of emotions until we reach immoratality. First of all, yes it is highly encouraged for us to think objectively and you have mentioned that at least we should try to not let it ruin our judgment, but if your goal was actually executed, us humans would have to be robots. Our emotions do us everything whether its the feeling to eat, sleep, or enjoy and without those we wouldnt know if we needed something—especially something crucial—so without those wed actually do the opposite of immortality.
