with sharing more of my life on instagram ( cause no family knows about this page or is blocked) i’ve had more conversations about stuff and i was talking to this particular aunt and it was so hard because my parents hid everything. made it seem like nothing was wrong. and so after sharing some things ( which I’m always careful because i don’t want to have my issues with my parents change the way my other family look towards them) she told me this and other things that made me realize how isolated i was, even while living at home

As a 40yo with chronic lyme adopted to very strict Catholic family, nurturing wasn't in their cards for a different kid so I was born with AuDHD & developed BPD due to emotional neglect & constant criticism. People think childhood trauma is all physical abuse but peer & medical neglect will destroy someone who's a natural sensitive Empath. I've been a silent watcher a long time, & I've always empathized & related with your feelings. I really am the same way, I love to gift give & I go all out but I cannot receive gifts or compliments despite the need for that type of care in return, the undeserving feeling is so deep & familiar to me. I'm really proud of you, you inspire me, I'm on disability but have a VTA degree here in Ontario, I'm going to try harder to get back to work because of you, thank you 💖

My bio dad has essentially been absent my whole life but his sister (my aunt) is my godmother. She has always looked out for me and treated me as one of her own. I remember one year she messaged me and said your dad told me to wish you a happy 31st birthday but I reminded him it’s 33. It’s such a conflicting feeling because I’m so happy she’s in my life but at the same time I always wonder why my dad isn’t half as engaged or interested. Anyway just wanted to share because you seem to be a part of the awesome aunt club too!! It’s such an incredible feeling when they make you feel seen 💕

It’s at times difficult to see who is trying to lift you up when you’ve never had parental support. It’s almost as if we are wired to disregard other people’s love because our primary givers didn’t give us what we needed emotionally and we are somehow unconsciously looking for that validation before we can believe we are loveable to others. But you are loveable. And gifts are really fun! ❤️

I’m not sure if you’ve ever tried other forms of therapy but as a hyper-self aware person myself I personally have had success doing therapy sessions that involve movement/my body not just my mind. Such as doing yoga with my therapist, I’ve tried equine therapy, body rolling, walks with my therapist etc.
