Heat your pot (4-5 on a gas stove) In a pot over medium heat, add oil 2. Add: -scallion -garlic 3. Sauté about 30 seconds (just until fragrant, don’t burn it) Step 2: Add Water + Salt * Pour in 2 1/2 cups water * Add salt * Bring to a boil (6-7 on a gas stove) Step 3: Wash the Rice * Rinse rice 2–3 times until water runs clearer -Removes excess starch so rice isn’t sticky Step 4: Add Rice * Add washed rice to boiling water * Stir once -Let it cook uncovered 7–10 minutes Step 5: Let Water Absorb * When water is mostly gone and you see little holes on top * Lower heat to low (2/low on a gas stove) Step 6: Steam (this is the key step) * Cover tightly and let steam 20–25 minutes *You can use a clean kitchen towel, aluminum foil or parchment paper to cover. *It is to help trap steam = fluffy rice Step 7: Finish * Remove scallion + garlic (optional) * Fluff rice with a fork *What your rice should look like: * Separate grains (not mushy) * Light and fluffy * Slight shine from oil Enjoy! 😊 #haitianfood #rice #EasyRecipe #foryoupage #explorepage✨
