I have to say that any of the comics I've read (I'm only up to season 10 and it's been a few months since I picked one up) that are SOULY written by Joss are by far the worst of the entire series! Like you it's my favourite show and I'll forever be thankful for buffy but when Joss doesn't have anyone holding him back? it shows. Not in a good way imo 😬😬

The completionist in me wouldn’t allow me to NOT read it in its entirety, and let me tell you the Xander and Dawn thing is only the surface of things I took issue with. Without getting into any spoilers, I think my major issue is that the way Joss handles character relationships WITHOUT the extra padding of a stellar cast of actors who bring even nonsense to life leaves a lot to be desired.

I hate the season 8/9 comics. they're too weird and don't feel like the show at all. They're covers are gorgeous!!! I would love a wall with nothing but the Buffy covers!

After the Scoobies betrayed Buffy in Empty Places (excluding Faith), I like to pretend Buffy peaced out after Sunnydale, and went and found her own peace. She left them all behind, still Slaying. Still gathering all the newly called girls, but distancing herself from them. They didn’t deserve her. She is, and was always better than them.

I’m just gonna continue pretending that Buffy got to finally breathe and have a break because all the slayers powers activated and she lived happily ever after. I don’t even like dawns introduction, and I would loathe reading about Xander being with her.

I think if I read the Dawn/Xander thing in real time it would've gave me an aneurysm. I stopped reading around the beginning of "Season Nine", imo some character choices just didn't work and it was clear having a tight budget worked in the shows favour.

Right now, I'm on a very expensive hunt for all of the library editions. Not pictured are the remaining volumes of Buffy Omnibus by Dark Horse, I have to dig them out of storage. I can't even find a comprehensive reading order list 😅

It makes sense that the trauma bonded. Xander has never really been mature. I can see how they would “grow up” together and that could feel like romantic love. But I hate it 😅
