“So, this is the first TikTok I see at 5am and then 21 scrolls later I find out he murder-suicided her.” A parenting influencer was shot dead by her husband after posting a TikTok video accusing him of being a paedophile. Sara Duffey, who also went by the name Sara Gilson, posted a 15-second clip on the platform of her taking a seat beneath the headline: “Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex-husband who I just found out is a paedophile.” The social media trend sees people mimic the format of a Netflix documentary. The 43-year-old was found dead along with her husband, Jeremiah Shawn Duffey, with gunshot wounds, on Thursday, in her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prosecutors believe Duffey, 48, shot Ms Duffey then himself in a murder-suicide. Ms Duffey had sought a protective order on 10 June meant to keep her husband away from their home in Colinsville. On the same day another woman filed for a protective order to try and keep Duffey away from her daughter. He had been caught by a fellow youth basketball coach kissing and fondling the girl, who later told her mum that Duffey had sent her inappropriate text messages, invited her to his hotel room, and offered her money to keep quiet. Ms Duffey posted her video on 11 July, captioning it: “I wish I was joking.” Less than two weeks later she was dead. Emergency services received a call from Ms Duffey’s home around 11.15pm with call takers saying they heard a woman screaming and what “sounded like a gunshot”. A second call came from a neighbouring home - a boy saying this his stepfather had shot his mum, media reports noted. More than 20 million people have now watched the TikTok video, many alarmed that she has since been killed. “How many people saw this first, found out this was a two-week-old video and that he murdered her last night,” one person wrote in the comments. Another wrote: “So this is the first TikTok I see at 5am and then 21 scrolls later I find out he murder-suicided her.” A fundraiser has since been set up to help support Ms Duffey’s “two precious children who must now face life without their loving mother”. “Sara was an incredible mom. Her children were the centre of her world and everything she did was for them.
