Part 1🪽🕯️🤍 5 days left: One year ago my darling Brock came home from the oncologist office. His last time in a car, up the three flights of stairs, his last trip anywhere. He had blood drawn and talked to his oncologist. Brock was working with a GNM doctor and was still very hopeful he would kick this. In the car on the way home he told me he loved me and that I was the best thing that ever happened to him. That I was the love his life and his angel. That I changed his life and he was never the same again. We both cried. As Brock walked up the stairs I noticed his right flip flop would tap the step a bit before he would lift his foot high enough to clear the stair. Just a small tap. So I said to him “babe, lift your right foot a bit more”. He said “I know, I’m trying”. It wasn’t hard or hurting him. His flip flop tapping it. But it seemed he couldn’t get his leg to lift up high enough to clear it. That was new. He had never done that before. The cancer was in his brain now and affecting his right leg now. He came inside and as he got undressed I was crying and he said “What’s wrong?” I said “we have so many more things to do together. So much more life to live”. and he said “I’m not going anywhere I’m just taking a nap Bangs”…it was like a light switch flipped. In the car it seemed like he was accepting he was dying. But not anymore. He went to bed with some Tylenol codeine. It was the last time he was ever “normal”. Once he went to bed that afternoon he never fully “woke up” again. Never fully alert and himself. He got into bed around 3pm and he slept the whole evening. I tried to wake him up to eat. He said he wasn’t hungry. The last meal he ate was the breakfast I made him which was eggs and sardines and a muffin. I told him he should take more medicine. Because he was finally not in pain. I didn’t want him to sleep too long without pain medicine and wake up hurting super bad. He said “don’t give me anymore. I already feel a little drugged”. He slept pain free most of the night… 4 days later he died. #cancer #grief #Love #widow #cancersucks
