42 yrs ago during residency we were making staff rounds..there was a fairly long discussion about when to give antibiotics in total joint replacement surgery..before? during? after? How long after? OMG this went on forever….for non-ortho residents it was tortuous…so the staff doc asked the presenter which antibiotic they used…. Ancef! Loud and clear….staf asked me why Ancef?…. I said it was probably the only antibiotic he knew how to spell… every one including staff laughed loudly. Staff then said I was probably right! I then explained the real reason Ancef was chosen… it was a light and funny moment in my residency years! Btw..this vid was so funny!!! Loved it!!

That sad thing is, this is very real. Ortho folk don’t know the BASICS of medicine. They have a cookbook approach to drugs - an order set that they are trained to click without even thinking about it. Tragedy.
