A cart suggests an order. Familiar tabs help people understand where they are and where they can go next. When you change those patterns just to make the interface feel unique, you're asking people to learn the basics all over again. That extra effort gets in the way of the thing they opened your app to do. You can still have a distinct visual style and solve a problem in an original way. The basic controls should help people get there without having to guess what a button means. Before redesigning a familiar pattern, ask what the change actually helps the user do.
