Clogged Oil Filter and Oil Leak on Aveo. • In this video, we’re working on a 2012 Chevrolet Aveo equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, known as F16D4 (also referred to as LDE). This engine was produced in South Korea between 2008 and 2012 and is considered a genuine Chevrolet power unit, although it is almost a direct technical equivalent of the well-known Opel Z16XER. Like any engine, it has both strengths and weaknesses - and today we focus specifically on its most common problems. • The most typical issues with this engine are poor reliability of the camshaft phasers and a constantly leaking oil cooler. That’s exactly why this car came into the workshop. Clear oil leaks were found around the oil cooler, and the service history raised immediate concerns. The owner had just purchased the vehicle and replaced the engine oil right after buying it. During that service, the oil filter was found completely clogged and collapsed, indicating extremely long oil change intervals or severe neglect by previous owners. I recommended returning after 1,000 kilometers to recheck the filter - and after exactly 1,000 km, the filter was clogged again. • This confirms that there is a large amount of sludge and carbon buildup inside the engine and the oil cooler, which means the oil cooler must be replaced. Going forward, we will closely monitor the condition of the oil and filter, possibly replacing them every 1,000 km if necessary, because the internal condition of the engine was in very poor shape. The repair itself is not technically difficult but quite labor-intensive. It requires removing the exhaust manifold, draining both coolant and engine oil, dismantling several components to access the oil cooler, and reinstalling everything afterward. The cooling system also includes metal coolant pipes, which adds complexity. In this video, you’ll see the entire repair process and the condition of the oil filter throughout the job. • #supermechanik #artempankovich #LernenMitTikTok #goldenhandsmechanic #Autos
