this is ABSOLUTELY 💯 percent true. I have been a single mother since my youngest was born and had to work 2 jobs their whole life until high school. I missed out on a lot of things, but when my youngest graduated elementary school 🎒 I was able to make it. He had no idea I was coming and the joy and light in his face when he heard me screaming on the top of my lungs when he walked that stage... he started crying 😭 I never felt so much guilt and love at one time.

Or that one time you read the form wrong. You thought it said 2pm but it actually said 1pm. So you get there 15 mins early only to realise you’re 45 mins late. Then he sees you, and that smile, he yells through the grin “I thought you missed it” you tell him you were there the whole time he just didn’t see you. He’s so happy, I feel awful, but at least he is smiling now. Shit mum moment 💔

I was fortunate to work for an employer who believed in family. I never missed any events in my children’s lives because of a flexible job. I am forever grateful that I was able to show up.

I was the kid that accomplished so much in school and no one was there. I broke the cycle, and I don’t blame my mom. She had to work because she had to do it all on her own.

I love my mom so much, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt when she didn't show up to my events. choir concerts or even when I was the lead in my middle school play. then I had to grow up and watch her go to all of my siblings events. I truly believe this is a big reason I'm closer to my dad. showing up matters. I'm 28 and I cry at these videos because I remember the hurt I felt

My sons dad didn’t show up for his kindergarten graduation. My son was looking for him and looked so sad but he still lit up when he saw me. His dad’s reasoning is he can’t always make it to the little stuff. It is his youngest child’s kindergarten graduation I wouldn’t call that a little thing. He’s autistic and made it through his first year of school. It should have been important. His little face when he found me in the crowd ❤️
