Shelter staff have noted that he flinches—an heartbreaking reaction that raises serious concerns about what he may have endured before arriving here. On top of that, he is suffering from a leg injury. How can we expect a frightened, injured dog who may have been abused to immediately feel safe and trust strangers? Michael needs compassion Michael arrived at the shelter with lacerations to his head and neck. His right hind knee was severely swollen and has an open, draining wound. A third-party veterinarian evaluated him and reported a guarded prognosis; amputation may ultimately be necessary. Despite everything he is going through, Michael remains bright, alert, and responsive. He is willingly eating and drinking, and his swelling has decreased. But he needs more than a shelter kennel to recover. Michael needs a safe, quiet home where he can be closely monitored, receive the care he needs, and have the best possible chance at healing. He has already endured enough. Please don't let his injuries be the reason he loses his life.
