Das erste Mal

One year ago, my best friend passed away. I debated on whether or not to have this moment recorded because it was literally one of the worst of my life. We had gone in to the vet earlier that day for an updated vaccine in order for him to groomed by a mobile groomer. He was fine for a few hours at my apartment, then all of a sudden, he had diarrhea and was trying to vomit but nothing came out and he started crying like I had never heard before. I panicked and called the vet and they advised me to take him back in. They had advised me earlier that day that he didn’t have much time left because of his kidney disease and losing weight, but I refused to think about putting him down unless he was in pain. Once at the vet, they did an x-ray and ultrasound and they told me his stomach had flipped and the only thing that could help was surgery. Cosmo was 8 days shy of his 17th birthday, he wouldn’t have survived a surgery with his other ongoing health issues and age. That was the moment I decided I had to do the humane thing and put him to rest to no longer be in pain. It has been the hardest decision of my life as I had him since I was 19! Literally my best friend for half my life! It took me a year to watch these clips and I still cry the same as if it was March 16th, 2023. I will love you forever my most beautiful baby boy Cosmo! Thank you for choosing me as your mom and thank you for giving me the best memories a person could ask for! I will mourn your death for all my life. For anyone that thinks the loss of a pet is no big deal, you clearly have no heart and have never known TRUE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, and in the words of Harry Potter “I feel sorry for you” #petloss #mourning #grief #sad #emotional
