There's complexity in this, the bob is living his life in happiness I think the point is that he is a subservient boot licker and is seen as much, but his heart and his genuine want to be the best he can and put effort into what he does is what makes him so endearing. Is it the Bob's fault that the system put in place takes advantage of those like him who always want to show up giving 100 percent? Yes, partially because he needs to explore and realize he's perpetuating greed but at the same time it's the system which takes advantage in the first place. It's our job as people to fight this system which takes advantage of those who work like the Bob. And it's the Bob's responsibility to see the corruption and the greed in the system and not just blindly live in it perpetuating it.

SpongeBob embodies innocence. That’s why you see some episodes where he’s standing up to crabs; and because the viewer knows that SpongeBob is taken advantage of, the show can play off that to create an emotional roller coaster that makes you keep watching

But he can afford a house can he not? A nice one too. He lives next to two people he loves, he loves his community and is happy to serve them food. The Krusty Krab is not a chain, it is a local business place that the community loves.
